BMW 530i with snow tires vs a Front Wheel Drive Car vs. AWD?

How bad is the 530i in the snow with a good pair of snow tires? It is comparable to driving a front wheel drive car with all season tires are much worst. Then by defualt, AWD would seem to be better, but is there a huge difference here. I am thinking of getting the 530i, but don't want to spring for the 530xi (lack of funds). Any input would be great. By the way, how reliable are the 06's to date? I would of course either purchase certified pre-owned or new.

Thanks

If you live in a very cold area with a lot of ice and snow then you will have issues just like you would with any rear wheel drive car. If you cant afford the awd then you really can afford the rear wheel drive one, drop down to a cheepr car ir look for a used certified one with awd it will be a better investment all around.

The difference between a RWD and AWD is only about 2k. If you are that concerned, and can afford a 40-50k car, 2 grand is nothing for a little piece of mind.
