BMW air bags & MOT?

Having read that air bags are not MOT items is it unreasonable for an insurer not to replace the passenger a/b in order to come within the repair costs? They also refuse to accept the difference in their estimate to car value and want to scrap the car. Being it's a difficult model to find I would like it repaired.

They will put the car back to its original state if it is economically feasible, if not they are entitled to ''write it off''

Tell them to come up with a mutually favourable value and tell them you want to keep the car as well.

Then get it repaired with the insurance money and have some cash left over.

A lot of smaller body shops will do the job for a lot less than an insurance company ''approved repairer''.

Sine you did not state age miles and condition of car this is a hard question, Insurance must bring the car back to orginal condition, it the repairs exceed the a certain cost of what the insurance thinks the caar is worh then they will scrap the car, you have 2 choice then take the money and run or take the money, buy the car back from the insurace and and have it repaired yourself, problem is with air bag stuff it must be bought new, no used stuff and air bags, and sensors are VERY expensive, then you will have to clear codes and reprogram, and your car will have a salavage title, not a big deal.
What do you mean MOT???

Don't take this abuse from your insurer. You've paid your premiums right?

OK so ask your insurer if they do not replace the airbags will they assume 100% liability if a passenger of yours is injured?

Not knowing what year or model your car is, it's hard to estimate what they're trying to pull. But THEY ARE pulling something, most likely the wool over your eyes......
