I think you're asking if the new M3 or Z4-M will offer a hardtop convertible. I have not heard anything about a hardtop 3 series convertible, M or not. The optional hardtop is still and will continue to be available.

I HAVE heard that the 2008 Z4 3.0 will be a hardtop convertible! The trade off was loosing the trunk, not that there was much of one to start with.

The all new 2008 Z4-M will initially be offered as a coupe (September 2007) and later as hardtop convertible (May 2008)

3 series convertibles (E46 model) are manufactured as soft top. They do offer a hard top but they run $2295.

I would imagine the new 2007 3 series coupes will also have the option for you to purchase a hardtop.
