like the 1999-2007 im talking about..... how are they? reliable... etc?

Don't buy one.

1) They're made in the USA

2) Electrial problems are very prevelant

3) Engine failure has been reported in over hundreds of X5's.

4) Bad alternators on most 02-03 models

Yeah I would say they are pretty good. I would say it is the best 4x4. In icy conditions though they aren't the best car to have. If you hit black ice on the motorway and lose control the car will roll and it will be quite hard to keep under control due to the high center of gravity. But if you are somewhere where it doesn't get cold very often then if it is a 4x4 that you want then it is the choice of many people.

If you want one then get one of the newer models as older ones sometimes had a few problems. The front and rear have also been redesigned.
