I am about to look into buying a 2000 model but I don't know how to drive stick yet and I may very be likely living in snowy cold conditions (very snowy!) please answer especially if you own one or have knowledge/heard about rear wheel drive and snow. thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BMW 3 series manual good/safe for winter snow???nortonantivirus
its not a subaru! rwd are the worst in the snow. and its stick? your in for some fun. haha anyways at the least get yourself some good snow tires. but thast the worst combination rwd and stick. when it comes to braking...im sure you have ABS and 4 wheel disc brakes so your pretty good when it comes to braking. but like i said...snow tires for the traction to stop quicker(vs all season tires.)

if you dont know how to drive a stick you should not buy a stick. I know bmw's are nice cars but in snowy conditions if you are thinking about how to shift or what to do you wont be focused on the road. Another thing is bmw's are rear wheel drive which sucks in snow, you'll be making donuts around your self, trust me my boss has a 740i and has the same problem. one last thing is that the insurance on European luxury cars is soo much higher than having an American or Japanese car, plus repairs and parts on German cars is extremely expensive, i have an 300e when the alternator went out i was out $500. hope that helped...
It's definitely not one of the best in the snow. Having a stick should not make it any worse if you learn how to drive it and it can actually have some positives allowing you to better control your speeds. The car does have traction control and considerable weight over the rear wheels so it's not nearly as bad as most rwd cars. I would say overall it's about average in snow and I would not rule it out since the other months of the year it is a fine ride.
